The Chemours Company headquartered in Wilmington DE has Chemical Operator positions available at the Washington Works Plant in Washington WV. This is a key role within the Operations Function and it will report to Production Supervisor. Candidates will be required to monitor and operate high hazard chemical plant equipment and facilities (i.e. distillation polymerization) including field equipment insure quality and conformance with standard operating procedures. Maintain safety standards at all times and initiate and follow emergency procedures when necessary. Perform basic maintenance repair and upkeep on area equipment.
The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Move control settings to make necessary adjustments on equipment units affecting chemical reactions.
Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines using panelboards control boards or semi-automatic equipment.
Record operating data such as process conditions test results and instrument readings.
Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety efficiency and product quality.
Start-up control or shut down equipment during emergency situations.
Start pumps and other equipment to maintain equipment operations for distillation and reacting materials.
Monitor and interpret chemical reaction data to make adjustments to process systems.
Review laboratory test reports for process adjustments.
Patrol and verify systems are operating within standard operating conditions.
Respond to alarms
In order to be qualified for this role you must possess the following:
High School diploma/equivalency
2 or more years of experience in a manufacturing role
Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others
Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong reading comprehension and listening skills
Strong multi-tasking problem-solving and time management skills.
Strong work ethic discipline and high attention to detail
Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hat protective eyewear steel-toed boots hearing protection Level A suit full face respirator (no facial hair) SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus).
Ability to stand walk bend stoop squat kneel crawl climb stairs reach overhead lift up to 55lbs and have excellent manual dexterity and visual acuity with or without accommodation.
Ability to work in a High Hazard environment including adverse weather conditions elevated spaces confined spaces extreme temperatures and noisy surroundings.
Ability to work rotating 12 hour rotating shifts nights weekends holidays and overtime as business needs require.
A current and valid state-issued drivers license
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
2 or more years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing role
Possess a degree or certificate from a college or technical school in Process Technology or Chemical Operations
