Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to join Stoneham Central Middle School as an Italian World Language Teacher. As the primary instructor for Italian courses you will play a crucial role in fostering students language proficiency cultural understanding and love for these two vibrant languages. T
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans instructional materials and assessments to meet the diverse needs of students learning Italian.
- Teach Italian language skills including speaking listening reading and writing using a UDL approach that utilizes various techniques and strategies.
- Provide engaging and interactive classroom instruction to facilitate language acquisition and develop students cultural awareness.
- Incorporate various teaching strategies and technologies to enhance students language learning experience.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes active student participation and collaboration.
- Assess students progress regularly through assignments tests projects and oral evaluations and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Identify individual student needs and adapt instructional strategies accordingly to support their language development.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of student attendance grades and performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on the latest language teaching methodologies and resources.
- Communicate effectively with students parents/guardians and school administrators regarding students progress concerns and achievements.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school-related events as required.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom climate that promotes respect understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Italian Education or a related field.
- A masters degree in a relevant field is desirable.
- Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Education in the appropriate subject.
- Fluency in both Italian languages including native or near-native proficiency in at least one of the languages.
- Prior experience teaching Italian languages to students of different proficiency levels and age groups.
- Knowledge of current language teaching methodologies curriculum standards and assessment practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
- Ability to create a student-centered and culturally inclusive learning environment.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational tools to support language instruction.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to plan and deliver effective lessons.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators.
- Knowledge of Italian culture and literature is an asset.
