Commercial/ Legal Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team. The Commercial Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the commercial and legal aspects of our tender and construction projects including contract reviews procurement and contract negotiation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial management excellent financial acumen and a proven track record of delivering successful projects in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review tender stage contracts and conduct high level and detailed mark-up review for consideration and forward submission
- Lead contract negotiations with clients subcontractors suppliers and other third parties to secure favourable terms and conditions.
- Identify any commercial or legal risks associated with the tenders/ contracts
- Involve in the tender and construction procurement process including supplier selection contract administration and performance evaluation to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
- Conduct regular cost reviews and value engineering exercises to optimize project costs and enhance profitability.
- Prepare activity schedules forecasts and the like for tenders
- Collaborate with Estimators Estimating Managers/ Bid Manager Design Management Engineers Quantity Surveyors
- Stay abreast of industry trends market conditions and regulatory requirements affecting the construction sector adapting strategies and practices accordingly.
- Prepare and agree LOI wording for minor or enabling works contracts
Skills and Experience
- Based in HO in Glasgow
- Report directly to the Deputy Managing Director
- Bachelors degree in quantity surveying civil engineering construction management or a related field. Chartered status or relevant professional qualifications (e.g. MRICS/CICES) preferred.
- Ideally 10 years plus experience in civil engineering contracting
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts i.e. NEC FIDIC SBBC contracts including sub-contracts
