Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for performing tasks involving the shipping and receiving of both raw and finished materials.

Hours:  Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5pm

Pay - $18.00 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of but not be limited to the following:

  • Operating standup forklifts pallet jacks and stock picker lift trucks in a safe manner
  • Operating and maintaining RF Scanner (handheld warehouse computer).
  • Accurate and timely selecting of customers orders  
  • Accurately completing work order sheets.  
  • Working on both the Receiving and Shipping docks as needed.  
  • Unload trucks and validate deliveries against appropriate documentation and notify supervisor or FSQ of discrepancies.
  • Ensure products are correctly labeled and identified for proper storing and use.
  • Distribute the items received to the person or department for which the item was ordered.
  • Daily shipments must be picked counts verified pallets wrapped or stacked neatly for pick-ups marked accordingly to customer transportation and location of shipment.
  • Load finished goods onto trailer within specified timeframe.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of finished products and supplies in the warehouse.
  • Follow daily production schedule and achieve specified goals.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) along with company pre-requisite programs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Cleaning and maintaining warehouse floor and facilities as needed. 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
  • Following set company and OSHA safety rules regulations and guidelines at all times.

Qualifications :

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Preferred:       

  • 1-3 Months related manufacturing or food experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of warehouse and lift trucks experience.
  • Basic knowledge of supply chain purchasing materials and/or Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of SAP.

REQUIRED SKILLS KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:

  • Excellent attendance and dependability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail
  • Work well with others
  • Working knowledge of computers and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; must work effectively with others.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk use hands to finger handle or feel lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
