Job Description

Under general supervision from the Associate Deputy Director the Residential Director assumes responsibility for the day-to-day residential management of milieu for the Catholic Charities San Francisco Boys Home.

Salary: $85000-$99000 per year

Location: Onsite 5 days a week

Catholic Charities San Francisco the Juvenile Probation Department (JPD) and the Department of Children Youth and their Families (DCYF) collaborate to provide community-based residential services to boys ages 12-18 under the jurisdiction of the San Francisco Juvenile Court. The San Francisco Boys Home (SFBH) is the only short-term residential therapeutic program (STRTP) located in the City and County of San Francisco. SFBH provides therapeutic educational rehabilitation and recreational services in a home-like setting that is staffed 24 hours a day. The youth live in a residential San Francisco house and receive therapeutic services at our supplemental location Euclid House.

The Residential Director/Administrator will collaborate with the Clinical Supervisor and Program Manager for the overall supervision and management of program services for San Francisco Boys Homes. The Residential Director must be in possession or willing to obtain an STRTP Administrator License and rotate Admin On-Call duties.

The Residential Director also supports the Carmelita Program Manager who manages the Carmelita Womens Home and Housing-Based Case Management programs to ensure both programs are focused on providing a whole person with a healing experience with a trauma informed lens.

The Residential Director will provide guidance and oversite of the supervisors and the structure and programming of the milieu. They will manage the schedules and personnel issues that arise ensuring that policies and procedures are maintained. They will also provide assistance and guidance in maintaining all facilities. The Residential Director will facilitate all hiring onboarding on-going training and mentoring of Child Care workers and Program Manager. They shall utilize a team approach to the care of children to ensure coordination of services and actively collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team JPD and school liaisons to ensure clear communication and coordination.

  • Fiscal Management: Responsible for sound planning and budgeting practices including developing implementing and monitoring all SFBH contracts grants and program budgets in coordination with the Finance and Contracts Departments.
  • Strategic Planning: Develops strategic plans sets objectives based on goals mission and values gathers input and knowledge of others adjust and monitor plans as needed. Manage a team in the design project management and analysis of service evaluation data and clearly communicate key findings to a variety of stakeholders including program staff County officials funders community practitioners and senior staff

Provide Supervisory Oversight

  • Utilize a team approach to the care of children to ensure coordination of services and actively collaborate with inter-departmental
  • Develop and improve daily work plans for a three-shift operation; plan and monitor shift schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage for care of children 12-17 years old.
  • Assist in ongoing improvement and development and implementation of training for Shift Supervisors.
  • Create a performance-based culture encouraging teamwork respect and accountability.
  • Address employees who are not meeting expectations and develop corrective actions that empower employees and the team.
  • Assist in conducting mediations for the purpose of conflict resolution.
  • Assist in ongoing improvement and development and implementation of training for Shift Supervisors.
  • Assist in maintaining the integrity of the daily routine and structure to ensure consistency among all in meeting standardized requirements for recreation acculturation spiritual activities routines etc.
  • Nurture consistency to more easily assure that Child Care Workers can expect similar policies procedures and routines regardless of where they work on any given day or shift.
  • Plan and implement weekly team meetings with residential staff in collaboration with Program Leadership and meet individually with Shift Supervisors on a weekly basis to monitor and develop their supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and capacity to lead a team of diverse multi-cultural multi-lingual staff.
  • Willingness to fill in holes in schedule and function as shift supervisor when program needs demand.
  • Complete on-call rotation.

Compliance & Risk Oversight

  • Ensure compliance and safety of care in on-campus residential units.
  • Adhere to Human resources law HIPAA CPSL and maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Maintain knowledge and follow responsibilities mandated by the Child Protective Services Laws.
  • Assure that Child Care Workers and Shift Supervisors maintain timely completion of mandatory training
  • Assist in overseeing inventory making purchase requests record keeping and mandated standards of care in residential units.
  • Respond timely to requests from stakeholders and CC Leadership
  • Review and approve purchase orders check requests and assure receipts are submitted timely and accurately in collaboration with Lead Supervisor.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in social work psychology counseling or other relevant behavioral science and minimum of 2-3 years of direct service delivery experience or work experience in administration or human service.
  • Must be in possession or willing to complete STRTP Administrator Licensure and keep active
  • Must be EPIC trained or willing to be

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • CA Drivers License Required
  • Supervisory and conflict management skills are required.
  • Knowledge and experience in compliance with CCL regulations and guidelines
  • Demonstrates ability and knowledge of computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office and Office 365.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (read write and speak) and bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • DOJ FBI and Child Abuse Index Clearances Required.
  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.
