Full time starting salary is normally in the range 29647 to 31460 with potential progression once in post to 35388

Background

The University of Birmingham is excited to support the NIHR Central and North West Midlands Commercial Research Delivery Centre (C&NWM CRDC) working across the region we will support the growth of commercial research increasing access to clinical trials for our patients.

As a new high-profile regional programme there will be significant work to establish the programme systems and processes across a variety of organisations. This post is employed by the College of Medicine and Health at the University of Birmingham but working closely with the host organisation (Birmingham Womens and Childrens Hospital) and other partners/ collaborators across the region.

The post holder is key to supporting coordination and delivery of these activities through providing administrative support to Senior Managers and a variety of related committees significant experience of remote/ digital ways of working will be essential i.e. Microsoft Teams SharePoint or Google Drive and Sites.

Duties will include proactively managing the meeting schedule ensuring meaningful opportunities for stakeholder participation and engagement through timely planning preparation and circulation of document and minuting/ action processes which support programme administration and providing administrative support to Senior Managers i.e. event planning committee meetings training sessions workshops and diary management. The post holder will be expected to develop review and maintain up-to-date filing systems and contribute to maintaining databases. Take an active administrative role and be responsible for drafting and editing documents which have complex formats and using scientific and medical terminology. Supporting a wider Management Team with relevant additional activities i.e. minute taking attending and supporting events.

As a regional programme it is anticipated that this is a hybrid role working on site and remotely in line with the Universitys hybrid working policy but with a flexible approach to programme delivery i.e. supporting face-to-face events/ meetings across the region as required.

Role Summary

As a Senior Administrator within a team/department you will provide support for a broad range of administrative duties some of which may be complex. You may also be responsible for managing other staff or for supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge. You will be able to use your wide range of skills both technical and administrative and have the opportunity to lead on specific tasks within a order to flexibly use resource you may be given the opportunity to work in different areas of the department or wider University.

Senior Administrators may work in any area of the University; with large groupings in HR Finance and School/College Hubs.

They will work with direction from management but with a significant degree of will deal with more complex queries and be expected to resolve any problems in their area of may also manage the workload of others or coach others to achieve results.

Internal and External relationships

This role will be liaising with internal colleagues and stakeholders likely to be University-wide and with external stakeholders.
