Description

Maclay School seeks a non-profit fundraising professional to join the Advancement Team in the role of Advancement Officer for Alumni Relations.

Background: Maclay School is approaching its 60th year of educating students in Tallahassee a milestone that highlights both the institutions legacy and future. The schools alumni base now exceeds 3300 graduates and many alumni families are engaged in the life of the school and the local community. As other constituent groups plateau or decline alumni and alumni families are the only audience that continues to grow representing a very important constituent group for future philanthropic investment.

Maclay School is very proud of the programs and the outcomes the institution delivers but sustaining and expanding that excellence depends on building a robust culture of alumni giving and engagement. The Advancement Officer for Alumni Relations will be charged with bringing not only a passion for connecting with people and telling Maclays story but also a clear drive and proven ability to translate those relationships into meaningful financial support and long-term engagement.

The Advancement Officer for Alumni Relations nurtures and develops productive long-term meaningful relationships between the School and its over 3300 alumni. This is the primary individual responsible for the care of the schools alumni body and their connection and engagement with the institution. This position champions the importance of the schools Alumni in the future of the institution and acts as a voice for Maclay alumni in strategic conversations at the school. This position seeks ways to celebrate Maclay alumni and promote a mutually beneficial long-term relationship between Maclay alumni and the school in order to achieve the schools long term strategic goals.

The Advancement Officer for Alumni Relations creates and implements strategies to introduce graduating seniors to the alumni experience celebrate alumni and their accomplishments reengage alumni that have not interacted with school initiatives recently facilitate philanthropic engagement within the alumni body and leads efforts to connect alumni to one another and the school.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • 12-month position
  • Acts as the lead for alumni donor cultivation engagement and stewardship.
  • Uses a wide variety of means to communicate with and engage alumni including by phone digitally and in person. This position will be charged with creating and implementing an outreach plan to reach and develop meaningful relationships with alumni with metrics determined in alignment with Advancement Office goals.
  • Plans organizes and implements receptions and reunions and other special events both at the school and in other areas of alumni concentration.
  • Shares information on the achievements of Maclay Alumni and creates opportunities for them to connect with one another:
  • Writes the alumni section of Virtu Magazine shares an Alumni E-News piece regularly contributes to alumni content on the schools website and develops content for other media as needed.
  • Functions as the liaison between the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the school.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the Advancement Office database (for alumni and donor information).
  • Contributes to overall goals and priorities of the Advancement Office by keeping the alumni perspective active in conversations and sharing information research and knowledge about the school community.
  • Contributes significantly to the Alumni philanthropic goals of the institution through engagement of alumni in their work wealth and wisdom through outreach recruitment and engagement of alumni who support the school at every level.
  • Engages and solicits donors to support alumni initiatives including the Friends of Robert C. Webster Golf Tournament the Alumni Legacy Endowment the Faculty Salary Support and Supplementation Endowment Capital Projects the Maclay Fund and other school priorities
  • Assists in the administration of special events led by the Advancement Office as they relate to Alumni Relations including the annual Maclay Auction.
  • All goals and initiatives this position oversees will be strategically aligned with the overarching goal of increased engagement from the schools alumni in terms of both support and an ever-growing loyalty and partnership in achieving the schools mission.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Proven multi-year fundraising or related experience including donor cultivation solicitation and stewardship.
  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage both immediate and long-term projects.
  • Strong communication and writing skills: the ability to interact with a variety of people and clearly convey information in writing and in person; proven project management skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as take initiative independently.
  • Commitment to respect and maintain confidentiality of donor information.
  • Some travel required. These trips will primarily be centered around alumni gatherings or individual stewardship trips.
