We are the UKs leading end-of-life charity and the only one delivering care support and information across all four nations. From community nursing to hospice care from bereavement support to national research and campaigning were fighting to ensure no one dies in poverty pain or loneliness.

Yet 1 in 4 people still miss out on the palliative care they need. This isnt just a statistic its a reality for families across the UK. And as the demand for end-of-life care increases by up to 25% by 2048 the time to act is now.

Thats why were launching an ambitious organisation-wide programme to close the gap in end-of-life care and we need an exceptional Programme Director to lead it.

Your role in our mission

As our new Programme Director you will lead a high-impact cross-functional programme that underpins our five-year strategy. Working closely with the Executive Team and senior stakeholders across the charity you will design and drive change that directly contributes to:

  • Growing our influence scale and impact
  • Delivering more vital care and support
  • Building operational and financial resilience

Youll coordinate multiple workstreams align change initiatives with business-as-usual operations and ensure the entire programme stays focused on delivering real-world outcomes for people at the end of life. This will include:

  • Programme Leadership:Define and manage the programme scope deliverables and KPIs. Track progress across workstreams and hold teams to account.
  • Strategic Integration:Identify and maximise cross-programme opportunities and interdependencies to drive organisational coherence.
  • Governance & Assurance:Establish strong governance manage risk and readiness for change and support decision-making at Programme Boards.
  • Communication & Engagement:Work with executive leaders and engagement teams to communicate purpose progress and impact clearly and consistently.
  • Budget Oversight:Oversee financial planning and reporting to ensure responsible transparent use of resources.
  • Legacy & Learning:Embed continuous improvement by capturing lessons and building transformation capability across the organisation.

What Were Looking For.

Youre an experienced programme leader with a track record of delivering complex cross-organisational transformation. You understand how to deliver at pace influence across senior levels and create clarity in complexity.

Key Criteria:

  • Significant programme leadership may come from sectors involving health care or complex service delivery but its not a prerequisite.
  • Experience in organisational change transformation or development.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and influencing skills especially with senior leaders.
  • Expertise in governance risk management and programme assurance.
  • A relevant project/programme management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 Agile MSP PMP).
  • A strong understanding of change management models and how to apply them in a real-world setting.

Application Process

Salary: 85k - 95k per annum

Contract:Fixed-term contract for 12 months

Based:London/Hybrid. The incumbent will need to work within a commutable distance as regular attendance (2-3 days a week) at our office in Embassy Gardens is required.
