Job Description

The role

We currently have a full-time vacancies for Heavy Vehicle Mechanic based from our Taree Depot.

MidCoast Councils Public Spaces department is responsible for managing over 3000 hectares of parks and open spaces 26 sporting complexes 84 playgrounds 32 cemeteries and 560 Council buildings including amenities community halls and administration facilities.

Within this department our Trades team plays a vital role in delivering essential services to the community by ensuring the reliability and performance of Councils fleet and plant equipment through expert mechanical repairs and maintenance.

As part of a skilled and professional team the Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/s will work on a diverse range of light and heavy fleet vehicles and plant including the equipment used to maintain and service our roads. Responsibilities include general maintenance diagnostics hydraulic repairs and minor welding as well as conducting roadworthy inspections.

Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role youll be required to complete a pre-employment medical check to ensure you can complete the essential requirements of the role.

What youll bring

  • Trade qualifications and experience in heavy vehicle / plant mechanics and MVRIA license.
  • A solid understanding of WH&S principles.
  • Motor Vehicles Inspectors Certificate (desirable)
  • Class MR drivers license

*If you are a light vehicle mechanic or auto electrician with an interest in heavy vehicle and plant please reach out to us to discuss additional training that may be available (depending on skills and experience).

Salary: Commencing salary package circa $65918 - $ 72510 p.a. plus superannuation (depending on skills and experience)

Location:Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the MidCoast Council Depot located on Arkwright Crescent Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure:Permanent Full Time 38 hours per week
