Job Description
The Estimator will have overall responsibility for estimating and planning manufacturing operations based on cost estimates of materials needed and internal/external processes required to make parts in accordance with customer requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops cost estimates on individual parts and updates MRP system accordingly.
- Reviews customer drawings and documents and understands scope of work to bid.
- Utilizes knowledge of various machines engineering practices mathematics building materials and other physical sciences to estimate costs.
- Review existing cost components and planning for improvement.
- Obtains pricing for materials.
- Obtains bids from subcontractors and outside process vendors.
- Prepares cost analysis in computer by summarizing material labor equipment subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the manufacture of items.
- Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
- Must be able to get along well with others.
- Must be able to work scheduled shift and meet company attendance requirements; must be flexible enough to work overtime or modify work hours on short notice if production deadlines require it.
- Good working knowledge and experience in CAD/CAM manufacturing is a plus.
- Additional Duties as assigned.
