Member of Technical Staff - Systems Performance Engineer
The emergence of Artificial Intelligence is inspiring changes in storage system architectures within data centers. A re-design of storage systems to utilize flash-based media and other advanced non-volatile memory technologies has begun. The Micron Data Center Workload Engineering team is looking for an experienced engineer to help our team characterize the performance endurance and power efficiency of flash-based media for applications and storage systems. Responsibilities:
Deploy and test AI solutions that simulate customer environments Specific focus around the characterization of training and inference workloads like DLRM Image Segmentation Large Language Models and Generative AI.
Collect and analyze storage traces of workloads uncovering and classifying unique IO behavior.
Devise and implement suitable benchmarking strategies drawing from industry standards and field feedback.
Automate and expand existing benchmarking capabilities to improve efficiency and repeatability.
Demonstrate skills at instrumenting and measuring application workload requests analyze storage solution I/O activity down to SSD devices and monitor system resource utilization.
Analyze system level bottlenecks and solve issues involving virtualization technologies distributed storage architectures and complex application workload environments.
Interpret findings and results summarizing into standard methodologies white papers and presentations to help SSD engineering understand unique workload requirements.
Work with multi-functional teams and key industry partners to deliver prescriptive guidance positioning our storage products in premier application environments.
Contribute to continuous improvement feedback to Micron product development organizations.
Meet project schedules with a high degree of fidelity.
Present workload performance data and storage insights at industry trade shows.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS Degree in EE CE CS or equivalent
Understanding of emerging AI workloads and their impact and requirements on system architecture specifically storage systems.
Expert understanding of Python and demonstrated ability building automation tools.
Experience with hypervisors and SDS stacks (one or more): Weka Lustre Ceph Docker Linux Containers VMware Azure Stack.
Synthetic I/O characterization and related tools FIO Blktrace etc.
Operating systems and associated internal storage stacks: Linux Microsoft.
Familiarity with and knowledge of Solid-State Drives and related technologies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Data Center SSD validation.
The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$165000.00 - $307000.00Our salary ranges are determined by role level and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors including knowledge skills experience tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
