Job Description

The Opportunity

This opportunity is only open to current School of Civil and Environmental Engineering postgraduate students.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW has an opportunity for a Postgraduate Teaching Fellow. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging academic to gain valuable teaching experience.

Join our team and contribute to high-quality education by delivering lectures tutorials practical classes demonstrations workshops and student field excursions as assigned by the Head of School. You will assist academics with course coordination exam marking grade recording and the management of Moodle the online learning platform. Additionally you will support course administration oversee teaching allocations and provide course-related guidance to students. This role involves tutorial and demonstration activities for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Under the guidance of the course coordinator you will also assist in refining subject material to enhance learning outcomes.

This role reports to Professor Nasser Khalili; Head of School - School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

  • Salary Level A Starting at $102392 per annum 17% superannuation (pro-rated to FTE)
  • Part time 0.1 to 0.2 FTE
  • Fixed-term contract 12 to 15 months
  • Location: Kensington Sydney Australia

  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering and are currently enrolled in a Doctoral Degree in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty of Engineering at UNSW.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to teach in various aspects of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
  • Ability to assess and mark assignments and examinations in undergraduate and postgraduate courses and give appropriate support and feedback where necessary.
  • Ability to contribute to administration in an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal written and oral communications skills.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
