ACCOUNTANT (Permanent)
Our client an established non-profit in WNY is looking to hire an Accountant to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity to play a role in making a positive impact on the community. This position is open due to a retirement reports directly to the CFO and has tremendous growth potential.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day accounting tasks to ensure accurate financial records including focus on debits & credits
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Process gift receipts enter information into accounting software and verify entries
- Contact donors if clarification is needed
- Assist in month-end close by preparing journal entries/analyzing account balances making any corrections or adjustments as needed and reconciling discrepancies
- Maintain general ledger accounts ensuring accuracy
- Review investment activities monthly and reconcile as needed
- Prepare pledge schedules while computing present values reporting any variances
- Assist with preparation of annual tax returns
- Participate in audit preparation by generating financial documents and supporting audit staff wherever necessary
- Generate monthly/quarterly/annual reports outlining gains/losses for specific custodial agencies and trusts
- Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure the accuracy of financial information
- Streamline accounting processes by identifying any areas for improvement and recommending adjustments
- Actively participate in financial systems upgrades ensuring efficiency
- Support CFO and Accounting team as necessary
- Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
- Position is full-time Monday thru Friday: 40 hours per week; direct hire
- Position is 100% in office 8:30am-4:30pm
- $50000 - $60000 depending on experience
- Excellent benefits 50% Healthcare contribution 3 weeks PTO upwards of 20 paid holidays (depending on the year) 5% match on 401k after 1 year (whether you contribute or not)
- Minimum of Bachelor s degree in Accounting
- 2 years accounting experience
- Excellent accounting and math skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel & accounting software
- Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organization skills and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated
