JOB DESCRIPTION
Typical duties and responsibilities :
1. Install set up and maintain Linux servers and systems ensuring high availability and performance to minimize downtime and support business continuity.
2. Monitor system performance to guarantee dependability and availability.
3. Maintain frequent system backups and recovery methods.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware software and networking issues.
5. Implement and maintain system security measures to protect sensitive data and prevent costly security breaches.
6. Collaborate with other IT professionals to create and deploy innovative solutions that enhance overall IT infrastructure and support business growth.
7. Maintain documentation of system setups procedures and processes to ensure knowledge retention regulatory compliance and smooth team transitions.
8. Apply patches upgrades and security updates promptly to keep systems up to date reducing vulnerabilities and maintaining compliance.
9. Manage user accounts permissions and security settings to ensure secure access and data privacy.
10. Monitor and analyze logs to detect and address any issues proactively preventing potential system failures and ensuring seamless operations.
Required skills and experience :
3 years of proven experience as a Linux administrator.
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
Extensive understanding of Linux operating systems (such as CentOS Ubuntu and Red Hat).
Proficiency in programming languages like Bash Python and Perl.
Familiarity with configuration management tools (such as Ansible Puppet and Chef).
Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware and KVM).
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented approach.
Capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
Strong adaptability and flexibility to manage changing priorities and dynamic environments.
