What Youll Do
- Review tax returns and K-1s from external tax preparer for accuracy and completeness
- Assist in compliance with 1031x structuring and REIT compliance
- Conduct in-depth research on real estate tax laws regulations and rulings to guarantee accurate tax filings
- Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement tax strategies related to 1031x and other tax structuring and processes
- Communicate effectively with clients to obtain necessary tax information and address tax-related inquiries promptly
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements within the tax compliance and 1031x structuring realm
- Stay abreast of changes in real estate tax laws and regulations providing guidance to the team as needed
Who You Are
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- 2-4 years of proven experience in tax preparation or accounting preferably in the real estate sector
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state real estate tax laws
- Proficient in the use of tax software and MS Office Suite
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- CPA certification or demonstrated progress towards achieving CPA status
- Familiarity with tax research tools specialized for real estate tax matters
- Experience in developing tax planning strategies tailored to real estate transactions
