Australian Red Cross is part of the worlds largest humanitarian movement. Red Cross has provided support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Australia for more than four decades and continues to develop new approaches to support people facing housing issues.
About the role
We have an opportunity for a values driven person to join our After Hours Outreach program providing support to people sleeping rough and/or experiencing chronic homelessness to move into stable long term housing.
Using a case management and assertive outreach approach you will support clients to achieve meaningful change through engagement within the community education and employment. We focus on best practice to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
The Afterhours Outreach Program operates within shifts 6AM to 2PM and 3PM 11PMMonday to Friday and 6-12 on Saturdays and Sundays.A team of two work in an assertive outreach model driving and doing foot patrols in various locations patrolled range from parks the citybeaches motels hotels caravan parks shopping centre carparks and community centres.
The team will offer information and referrals and assess those in particularly vulnerable situations with the possibility of arranging emergency accommodation. You will operate from a strengths based and capacity building framework to ensure the promotion of social inclusion human rights participation and consumer choice.
You will be joining a supportive inclusive team with regular supervision and opportunities for professional development. You will share our vision that everyone deserves a home that is safe secure and affordable.
What you will bring
Proven ability to provide high quality specialist casework support and case management
Demonstrated understanding of how to holistically assess complex client needs including conducting risk assessments and developing effective case plans and safety planning
An understanding of the complex issues faced by people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
Demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
Current Working with Childrens Check and provisional or open Australian Drivers Licence is mandatory
