Job Title: Engineer / Maintenance Technician
Location: Hilton Garden Inn Ridgefield Park NJ
Reports To: General Manager / Chief Engineer
The Engineer / Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of hotel facilities equipment and systems to ensure a safe functional and welcoming environment for guests and team members. This position plays a critical role in upholding Hilton brand standards and ensuring guest satisfaction through responsive and efficient service.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems plumbing electrical carpentry and mechanical systems.
Conduct preventative maintenance on guestrooms public spaces back-of-house areas and hotel equipment.
Respond promptly to guest room calls and service requests in a professional and courteous manner.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the maintenance workshop and related areas.
Assist in maintaining the hotels safety and emergency systems (fire alarm sprinkler etc.).
Work closely with the General Manager and/or Chief Engineer to manage maintenance schedules and supply inventory.
Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures including OSHA regulations.
Maintain accurate logs of completed work inspections and inventory.
Support energy conservation initiatives and ensure cost-effective use of hotel utilities.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
13 years of experience in building maintenance or a similar role preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
Working knowledge of basic plumbing electrical HVAC and carpentry.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals schematics and blueprints.
Must be able to lift push pull and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities such as climbing ladders or working in confined spaces.
Flexibility to work shifts including evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
EPA certification and/or boiler license is a plus.
Fast-paced hospitality environment.
Requires standing walking and working in both indoor and outdoor conditions.
Must be available for emergency on-call rotation.
