Completion of health information technology or health information administration program offered by technical school or university/college which would qualify applicant for accreditation as registered health information administrator (RHIA) or registered health information technician (RHIT). If curriculum did not include training in pharmacology applicants must also have 1 course in pharmacology. Completion of 90 hr. national association of practical nurses educational services may be substituted for 1 course in pharmacology.

CANS CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: must complete CANS training and become CANS certified within 30 days of completing Pre-service training. Time will be provided to attend CANS training and complete testing during normal work hours.

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check that includes results from BCI and FBI. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. PRE-SERVICE TRAINING:
All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services are required to attend 3 weeks of mandatory paid training at the Correctional Training Academy in Orient Ohio. Training Academy hours are Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
DYS is a qualifying employer for purposes of the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness PSLF program.

DYS is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio. DYS is statutorily mandated to confine felony offenders ages 10-21 who have been adjudicated and committed by one of Ohios 88 county juvenile courts. DYS is seeking a Health Information Technician 2 in the Bureau of Community Facilities. This position will educate parents/guardians and youth about Medicaid OhioRISE and CANS. The individual filling this position will be responsible for coordinating and completing CANS assessment. This position is located at the Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility.
