The Oregon Department of Corrections Facilities Services is actively recruiting for a Construction Project Manager 2. This position is a limited duration anticipated to last 2 years though may be extended or decreased due to business need. Internal candidates may be considered as a job rotation with their current managers approval (applications without approval will be rejected).

About the Job Your Role

As the Construction Project Manager 2 you will serve as the primary point of contact for all construction contract documentation. In this role you you will be responsible for providing construction contract administration and managing large-scale Capital Construction projects ($) and Capital Improvement projects (less than $1000000). The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of construction methods project management techniques and public works contracting laws. You may be assigned responsibility for managing several projects with varying scope size and timing and multiple customer agencies. Most of the tasks performed are proprietary in nature as opposed to regulatory or governmental and you must utilize communications skills to persuade and influence customer agencies consulting architects and engineers general and subcontractors and Department officials.

This position is represented by American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelors Degree in Construction Management Business Administration Public Administration Architecture Planning or Engineering;ANDthree years of progressively responsible experience related to the class series concept;

OR

An Associate Degree (or comparable course work) in Architectural Construction or Engineering Technology; and four and one-half years of progressively responsible experience related to the class series concept;

OR

Six years of progressively responsible experience related to the class series concept.

Working Conditions

Periodic contact with incarcerated felony offenders. Office environment requires the use of tact and sensitivity. Use of Video terminal for extended periods of time. May be required to periodically work extended hours. Requires frequent travel to reach institutions consultants regulatory agencies and construction sites and may include overnight travel. Work may involve exposure to inclement weather and require wearing of protective clothing during on-site inspections of construction projects.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position.
