Physical Therapist - ESY

Position Details

This role is a contracted summer position spanning June July and August offering up to 40 total hours at an hourly rate of $44.66.

The position involves driving and includes coverage of Erie Warren and Crawford Counties.

Position Overview:

The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) is seeking a qualified Physical Therapist to join our team on a contracted basis for the extended school year. The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluation assessment planning goal development and for providing appropriate intervention services designed to enhance the students potential for learning. The PT will assist the student in acquiring the functional performance skills needed to participate in and benefit from the educational environment and to help the student function independently. These are itinerant positions serving the Tri-County area.

Required Qualifications:

  • PA License in Physical Therapist
  • Previous experience providing school based PT services preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Assesses students functional capabilities and/or classroom environment for the purpose of determining students functional level and developing recommendations and/or curriculum access
  • Assesses students gross motor and development skills (e.g. perceptual motor motor coordination sensory development muscle strength etc.) for the purpose of determining their deficits and developing recommendations
  • Communicates with students parents teachers and/or other personnel for the purpose of evaluating situations solving problems and/or resolving conflicts
  • Consults with students parents and guardians for the purpose of enhancing student access and mobility in school and in school related activities / functions
  • Consults with teachers parents other personnel and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information developing plans for services and/or making recommendations Coordinates with the IEP team for the purpose of determining appropriate treatments etc. to meet the needs of specific students and attends IEP Team Meetings
  • Develops treatment plans interventions and/or educational materials from the IEP for the purpose of remediating students motor skill deficits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Facilitates meetings processes etc. for the purpose of meeting curriculum guidelines and/or ensuring that state mandates are achieved

Successful applicants will be required to submit acceptable PA Child Abuse Clearance PA Criminal History Clearance and Federal History Clearance as well as complete forms Act 168 for current employer and any previous employer where the applicant worked directly with children. Additionally a negative TB test will be required within 3 months of receipt of the test results by the IU.
