Upon completion of training this position will be eligible to work from home coming into the office as needed. Must live in the state of Ohio in order to work from home. Summary: Pre-Cert Specialist contacts patient insurance companies to obtain precertification for requested diagnostic testing and relay this information to the patient as well as documenting the certification in the computer system. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Contacts insurance companies to obtain pre-certification of requested diagnostic testing treatments and/or surgeries;
- Documents the certification in the computer system
- Notifies the provider and other appropriate staff when medical review is required;
- Notifies the provider and other appropriate staff when pre-cert is completed;
- Communicates situations projected to result in a non-covered balance;
- Answers incoming calls in a professional tone of voice;
- Listens attentively to ensure accurate response;
- Follow all health care privacy and safety rules;
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Not applicable Required Education and/ or Experience: - High School Diploma or GED. At least one (1) year of previous experience working in a Medical Office 2-3 years medical pre-certification experience is preferred.
General Skill Requirements: - Excellent oral and written communication
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Outlook.
- Experience working with a Practice Management system.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position to provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external stakeholders.
