LOCATION
This role is based in Portugal. We have an office hub in Porto available for those who prefer a hybrid model where you can spend time with colleagues in-person. You will need to be able to commute to our office hub as required from time to time.
WHO YOULL WORK WITH
We are looking for an entrepreneurial-minded Social Media Manager to take the reins of Hostelworlds social presence across our key channels. Working closely with our Content and SEO team youll manage the messaging and engagement primarily on Instagram although with some interplay with Facebook TikTok and X too. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys both thinking and doingexpect to be hands-on from day one especially on Instagram.
Were looking for someone who can highlight our expertise in hostel selection and locations while showcasing our unique social features for travellers. Youll also engage with our audience on key events special holidays and relevant topical issues. Your collaboration with the team will ensure that Hostelworlds voice remains authentic fun and informative.
WHAT YOULL DO
- Manage Social Presence: Run Hostelworlds social media channels which currently include Instagram Facebook TikTok and X.
- Content Collaboration: Work closely with the Content and SEO teams to align on messaging strategy and engagement.
- Hands-on Posting: Take over all social media posting responsibilities from the
- Content team ensuring timely and relevant content.
- Scheduling & Tracking: Use Emplifi and StoryStream to schedule posts track engagement and identify new engagement opportunities.
- Engage & Grow: Roll up your sleeves to directly engage with our audiences and grow our social media presence.
- Video & Content Creation: Utilise your skills in content creation especially video to create compelling posts that resonate with our audience.
- Special Projects: Work on exciting initiatives like hostel giveaways and research emerging travel content trends to keep us ahead of the curve.
- Leverage AI: Use AI tools to discover noteworthy travel events and collaborate with micro-influencers through Instagram.
WHAT CONTENT YOULL SHARE
- Topical Event Posts: Have a good Topical/Special event day in X country posts celebrating global events and special days.
- Location Spotlights: Highlight specific travel destinations showcasing our hostel offerings.
- Hostel Giveaways: Engage our audience with Instagram-specific giveaway posts.
- Sale/Event Posts: Promote sales events and other key activities.
- Hostel-Focused Videos: Create and share videos that highlight hostels and travel experiences.
- Newsjacking: Capitalize on trending topics to boost engagement.
- Social Success Stories: Share Hostelworld social success stories and remind followers about our unique functionalities.
- Sustainability Posts: Promote our commitment to sustainability and
responsible travel.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
- Experience in managing social media channels particularly Instagram.
- Familiarity with Facebook TikTok and X is a plus.
- A thinker and do-er ready to take charge and drive our social media strategy.
- Strong content creation skills. Experience with video capture/editing very beneficial.
- Ability to align social media activities with overall brand messaging.
- Comfortable working in a fully remote fast-paced environment.
