We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our team. In this role you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality care to our animal patients while supporting our veterinarians and clients.
- Assist in the triage of incoming patients assessing their condition and prioritizing care
- Restrain and handle animals safely during examinations and procedures
- Collect and analyze laboratory samples including blood urine and tissue specimens
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays and ultrasounds
- Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians
- Communicate treatment plans effectively with pet owners ensuring they understand care instructions
- Prepare animals and equipment for surgical procedures
- Assist in anesthetic management during surgeries
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure optimal patient care
- Stay updated on the latest veterinary techniques and best practices

- Proficiency in animal restraint techniques and handling
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and sample collection methods
- Experience with diagnostic imaging equipment and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to provide nursing care for hospitalized animals
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficiency in surgical preparation and assistance
- Basic understanding of anesthetic monitoring and management
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move animals and equipment
- Compassionate and calm demeanor especially in high-stress situations
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively with staff and clients
- Self-motivated with a desire to continuously learn and improve skills
- Comfort working in an environment with exposure to animal waste potential bites scratches and contagious diseases
- Ability to withstand unpleasant odors and noises associated with animal care
- Basic computer skills for maintaining electronic medical records
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a veterinary technology program is a plus
