Job Description
Title:Commons Associate - Sanitation (Full Time Full Year)
Position Purpose:
The Commons Associate - Sanitation position provides front line dishroom and janitorial support for the Bates dining program which serves approximately 5000 meals per day to the students faculty staff and guests of the college. This position is responsible for following food safety and sanitation procedures as well as demonstrating positive relationships with individuals and groups with varying backgrounds perspectives education and skills. Ability to work as part of a dynamic team who embraces communication and inclusiveness is essential to the candidates success. Exemplary organizational and time management skills outstanding customer service skills and attention to detail are a must.
This position may be considered Essential Personnel in the event that:
- An emergency occurs on the Bates campus or in the vicinity that would impact Bates
- Inclement weather forces the closing of campus
- Or other emergency events deemed appropriate
Job Duties:
- Performs dish room tasks which include loading and unloading scrime line and cleaning of silver.
- Performs janitorial tasks which include cleaning bathrooms sweeping and mopping floors dusting cleaning windows and mats as well as recycling and trash room maintenance.
- Ensures that proper sanitation and safety standards are being followed.
- Maintains the highest levels of customer service practices at all times.
- Ensures that sound environmental practices composting recycling waste reduction are maintained.
- Promotes and values diversity and practices two-way communication.
- Attends monthly meetings for Dining Conferences and Campus Events.
- Assists in other areas of the operation as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent desired.
- Serve Safe certification preferred.
- Valid drivers license preferred.
Experience
Previous food service experience desired.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong commitment to customer service
- Exemplary organizational and time management skills are a must
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to relate well to individuals with varying backgrounds education and skills
- Understands and thrives in a high volume food service environment
