Starting Wage: $48220 annually

Salary Schedule/Lane: 68/E/01

This position will support the HVAC Journey Position.

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Worker maintains all district facilities in safe operating order ensures a preventative maintenance program documents information resolves immediate operational and safety concerns and ensures assignments are completed in a safe proper and timely manner.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Valid Drivers license and evidence of insurability
  3. At least one (1) year of related experience (i.e. Maintenance Worker Trades Helper etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

These are examples of skills and experience that the best-qualified candidates may have. Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.

  1. Three (3) or more years of related experience (i.e. Maintenance Worker Trades Helper etc.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists Journeymen in performing a variety of trades (e.g. welding fabrication painting etc.) to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner
  2. Fabricates specialty items from various metals wood and plastic under the direction of a skilled tradesperson to provide needed items in a cost-effective manner
  3. Performs major repairs on various items systems and components to ensure all items are available and in safe working order
  4. Transports various items (e.g. tools supplies equipment) to job sites to ensure proper availability of items required by the Journey position.
  5. Maintains tools and supplies to maintain a proper inventory and ensure the availability of needed items
  6. Respond to emergency situations to solve immediate safety concerns
  7. Prepares standard documentation (e.g. work orders purchase requisitions etc.) to provide written support and convey information
  8. Research various topics (e.g. new topics code updates etc.) to remain current in the field
  9. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position
  10. Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees and stakeholders
  11. Follow all department and federal safety practices and procedures to ensure a safe and effective working environment
  12. Work under limited supervision utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies accurately processing detailed information and meeting deadlines
  13. As needed fill in for Journeymen when absent or called away on other projects
  14. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions as required
  15. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
  16. Speak read write analyze understand and follow written and verbal communication in English including grammar and punctuation; listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing
  17. As needed roll push pull bend reach stoop crawl and lift up to 50 pounds
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective function of the unit

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting up to 50 pounds carrying pushing pulling some climbing and balancing frequent stooping kneeling crouching crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting 45% walking and 45% standing. This job is performed under some temperature variations with some outdoor work and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and illness.
