BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has partnered with the Government of India for over 60 years. Since 1962 WFP in India has been a partner in Indias inspiring journey from recipient of aid to food surplus and provider of humanitarian food assistance. Currently WFP is providing technical assistance and capacity strengthening to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Government of Indias food-based social protection schemes and other programmes that strengthen food security nutrition and livelihoods and build resilience to shocks and meet targets under Sustainable Development Goal 2 - Zero Hunger.
WFP works by demonstrating innovative solutions with pilots and evaluations that attract government investment in scaling up documenting and sharing best practices across states and other countries in the region through south south exchanges.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support research for developing Op-ed and media features.
2. Support development of event and outreach Agrifood Caf International Day of Rural Women and World Food Day.
3. Maintain media contacts database and develop news digest.
4. Collate media and social media outreach analytics.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Be a Masters student or graduate in Mass Communication/Journalism.
Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). Working knowledge of another official UN language (French Spanish Arabic Chinese Russian plus Portuguese) is an asset.
SUPERVISION
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Communications.
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout their assignment WFP Fellows have access to an industry leading learning platform weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars as appropriate.
LEARNING ELEMENTS
At the end of the assignment the Fellow should:
1) Orientation on UN and WFPs communication approach and India communication strategy
2) Induction and immersion on Indias food rights/safety nets and food security situation.
3) Training on media management for development communication
