PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Coordinate the routine cleaning and maintenance procedures necessary to maintain a high standard of safety security cleanliness and efficiency of the building operations and grounds and monitor the performance and deficiencies of custodial staff
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of plant operations cleaning methods and procedures minor repairs security heating and ventilation and grounds maintenance
- Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning maintenance and safety procedures
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
- Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years in custodial services
- Supervisory ability or Supervisory experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Work closely with custodial staff to train them in the proper use of materials and equipment
- Establish procedures for locking checking and safe guarding facilities
- Oversee when requested the physical arrangements for school rental dances and other extracurricular activities.
- Upon request of the administration proposes shift schedules and informs the administration when replacement or extra help is required
- Keep the principal and designee informed of defective or unsafe plant conditions.
- Make minor repairs when requested within his/her resources and any necessary adjustments to plant equipment and fixtures
- Work with school administrators on submission of work orders on maintenance repairs and conduct follow-up to insure timely completions
- When requested by the school administration will develop daily work schedules for campus custodians
- Attend custodial in-service when requested
- Handle emergencies and perform other assignments directed by the principal or designee
- May be required to do some touch up painting
- Implement and maintain established cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors chalkboards wastebaskets windows furniture equipment and restrooms
- Keep school building and grounds including sidewalks driveways parking lots and play areas neat and clean
- Keeps light bulbs and tubes replaced
- Comply with local law and procedures for storage and disposal of trash
- Punctual and dependable
- Perform other duties as assigned based on department needs
- Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year
- Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
- Ability to use personal computer to access district programs emails and other resources
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educators Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job

Monitor and direct the work of custodians

Mental Demands:

- Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
Physical Demands:
- Frequent: Sitting standing walking climbing stairs ladders and/or ramps using a scissor lift balancing stooping kneeling crouching crawling pulling pushing reaching repetitive hand motions hearing speaking clearly visual acuity distinguishing colors driving traveling
- Occasional: Lifting heavy 45 pounds or more
Environmental Factors:
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold) humidity extremes noise low or intense illumination vibration
- Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases bacteria insects mold fungi etc.)
- Work outside work around moving objects or vehicles work on uneven surfaces
- Work alone work prolonged or irregular hours
