Job Description

SALARY: up to $25.73 per hour.

SUMMARY:

Direct and participate in equipment maintenance and repairs of all golf course and non-guest carrying vehicles. Responsible for coordinating and performing major and minor repairs on a variety of gasoline diesel and electric powered equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.

  • Perform thorough inspections to identify and resolve mechanical problems in turf maintenance and golf course equipment.
  • Grind backlap and adjust reel mowers to meet cutting specifications and ensure top turf quality.
  • Service and repair a variety of powered equipment including engines transmissions differentials brakes springs mufflers hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Perform basic welding fabrication and custom modifications to enhance or restore equipment functionality.
  • Procure track and replace tools and mechanical parts; maintain inventory to support efficient shop operations.
  • Assist in training staff in proper equipment usage and basic care to reduce downtime and extend machine life.
  • Promote workplace safety and ensure the maintenance facility remains clean organized and compliant with standards.
  • Support winter teardown and preseason rebuilds to ensure equipment is ready for seasonal use.
  • Transport equipment to other courses or vendors as needed for maintenance or repairs.
  • Help manage work orders schedule repairs and support purchasing decisions in coordination with the Superintendent.

KNIOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of golf course maintenance operations including routine servicing repairs and adjustments of turf equipment.
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of gasoline diesel and electric-powered equipment commonly used in turf care.
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools power tools and specialized mowing equipment.
  • Ability to work independently manage daily tasks and perform physical labor in a variety of outdoor conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to understand and follow instructions with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff supervisors and the public.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this position successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High school diploma or equivalent education.
    • Minimum two years of experience as head mechanic or maintenance shop manager of golf course operation.
    • Additional two years experience in general maintenance of equipment engines diesel and gas cycle engines including a technical background in hydraulic and electrical systems.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS: Valid Drivers License required. CDL preferred.

EQUIPMENT: Pickup truck radio miscellaneous hand and power tools compressors and power lifts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or mov more than 100 pounds specific vision abilities required by tnis job include close vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works in high precarious places and in frequently exposed to wet and/or humid condition fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet except when operating power equipment.
