Job Description

BAND TEACHER AT FRONTIER MIDDLE SCHOOL

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Moses Lake School District is seeking applications for a Middle School Band/Choral Teacher (1.0 FTE).

Frontier Middle School

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong musicianship organizational skills and a commitment to student success within a positive and structured learning environment. Additionally they will uphold district values and policies actively contribute to curriculum development and participate in professional growth activities. This role requires a proactive collaborative and student-centered professional who is dedicated to creating a vibrant music culture within the school and broader community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Valid Washington State Teacher certification with endorsements in instrumental music and/or choral music.
  2. College major in music or a music related field and/or an advanced degree in music preferred.
  3. Previous middle school level experience desirable.
  4. Willingness to develop an outstanding extra-curricular program.
  5. Willingness to coordinate with other curricular and extra-curricular programs.
  6. Fluent oral Spanish and English preferred.
  7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable.

DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES

  1. To communicate effectively with students parents community and staff.
  2. To work cooperatively as a member of a building team.
  3. To work effectively with children of varying academic emotional social and physical needs.
  4. To assume responsibility in the curriculum development process.
  5. To develop and maintain a learning centered classroom.
  6. To develop and maintain high standards of performance for students.
  7. To pursue opportunities for students to exhibit mastery of a variety of musical forms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Teach instrumental and choral music at the middle school level.
  2. To develop and foster a strong parent support/advisory group.
  3. To develop cooperative ventures with other extra-curricular programs.
  4. To have a strong working knowledge of district procedures as they pertain to transportation funding and supervision of extra-curricular activities field trips performances and competitions.
  5. To develop and maintain a strong communication network with parents students and school personnel.
  6. Demonstrate and model core values including integrity high expectations respect commitment teamwork and a student-centered focus.
  7. Ensure personal daily attendance and punctuality as these are essential functions of the position.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
