Job Description

Scheduling planning and delivering content and English Language Development (ELD) lessonsOverseeing implementation of an ELD curriculum and content-specific curricula for MLLsUtilizing differentiated best practices for various student groups (Newcomers long-term MLLs MLLs with disabilities and Students with limited or interrupted education)Collaborating with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure that SEI is embedded in instructional practicesFacilitate identification of MLL students through the use of home language surveys screening English proficiency and an initial assessment at time of each MLLs enrollment to determine level needs and programmingAdministering screening formative and summative assessments including the WIDA model Planning and administering annual ACCESS testingCommunicating with each family annually to confirm translation and interpretation needsEnsuring that principals and teachers are providing translated materials in familys preferred languageSupport district monitoring of teacher SEI endorsement to ensure that all teachers working with MLLs are SEI endorsedProvide teacher leadership and training in the area of supporting MLLs in our schools and classroomsWriting sending and filing all required correspondence to families including placement and ACCESS resultsLearning about valuing and utilizing students cultural and linguistic abilities to incorporate those practices into instruction through asset-based culturally competent methodology. Model inclusion and celebrate cultural differences shared by students and their families and acting as an advocate for Multilingual Learners within the school system
