The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board is now accepting applications for Occasional Teachers.

Occasional Teachers will have the autonomy to select which family of schools they wish to work in.


Job Summary: The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board is seeking qualified dedicated and adaptable Occasional Teachers to join our team. This position provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience across a diverse range of classrooms while making a meaningful contribution to student learning and development. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive learning environment helping to ensure continuity of instruction and fostering student success.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver prepared lesson plans in alignment with the Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines across a range of grade levels ensuring continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher;
  • Implement inclusive differentiated instruction and learning experiences as designed by the regular classroom teacher or as required to meet diverse student needs including those with exceptionalities for the duration of the assignment;
  • Foster a classroom culture that promotes equity belonging and student voice by maintaining a safe respectful and inclusive learning environment consistent with the schools established policies and practices;
  • Utilize provided assessment and evaluation strategies (e.g. collecting student work administering quizzes) to inform the regular classroom teacher of student progress and engagement;
  • Establish positive and respectful relationships with students school staff and the wider school community communicating effectively and professionally as needed during the occasional assignment;
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures including those related to professional development emergency protocols and daily routines;
  • Supervise students during assigned duties (e.g. recess bus duty) to ensure their safety and well-being; and
  • Demonstrate commitment to the RCCDSBs mission values and strategic priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education (.) degree;
  • Valid Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT); OR
  • OCT Transitional Certificate (if certification is pending please indicate);
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current educational practices inclusive education and culturally responsive teaching;
  • Strong classroom management communication and organizational skills;
  • Commitment to ongoing learning collaboration and reflective practice.


Application Requirements:

  • Cover letter and resume;
  • Current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification in good standing; OR
  • OCT Transitional Certificate in good standing
  • QECO Statement of Evaluation (if available);
  • Pastoral Reference is considered an asset;
  • Three professional references including one from a current or recent supervisor.


TO NOTE:

As a condition of employment all successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) in accordance with the Education Act. This document will only be considered valid for six (6) months after the date of issue.
