ELEMENTARY/SECONDARY PRINCIPAL JOB POSTING

STEIN VALLEY NLAKAPAMUX SCHOOL

Stein Valley Nlakapamux School (SVNS) is a well-established and growing Independent School centrally located in the Fraser Canyon (three hours from Vancouver and Kelowna and two hours from Kamloops). Situated at the base of the Stein Valley the area offers world class outdoor recreational opportunities within close proximity to larger urban centers.

SVNS offers K4 to Grade 12 along with an Adult Education Program.

We are an innovative and progressive school that is based on four cultural semesters over twelve months. Our unique school year starts at the end of July with four semesters that are based on the seasons. Each semester is nine or ten weeks with a two or three week break in between semesters. NlakapamuxchEEn language culture and learning on the land are woven throughout our curriculum.

This is an exciting career opportunity to work with a supportive Board of Directors toward language revitalization learning on the land and embedded cultural ways of knowing with the goal of graduating students with the skills and knowledge to thrive.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid B.C. Professional Teaching Certificate
  • Clear Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable populations
  • Masters Degree or evidence of active post graduate studies leading to a Masters Degree in an appropriate educational field
  • Demonstrated excellence as an experienced administrator
  • Demonstrated understanding and respect for First Nation learners and experience in weaving First Nations language and culture into the K 12 curriculum
  • Deep understanding of diversity which is exemplified in your daily practice
  • A well-developed sense of organization strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage time and administrative tasks efficiently
  • The ability to use a variety of conflict resolution strategies to address and resolve conflicts
  • Demonstrated ability to manage school-based staff and the budget
  • The ability to build collaborative and effective relationships with students parents staff and the community
