2-3 months contract with a local authority
Job Purpose
- To deliver outreach youth work across the Borough working mainly evenings and occasional weekends
- Support young people to develop personally and socially through an informal education programme
- Engage and support disenfranchised young people (11-25 years) at risk of becoming involved in violence gang activity or offending
- Deliver group and individual intervention work reduce the risk of young people being excluded from school and entering the criminal justice system
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- To deliver detached youth work sessions in an outreach capacity across the Borough as required
- Work with young disenfranchised people ages (11 to 25 years) supporting and facilitating appropriate referrals for their access to support available through services across local authority health and voluntary sector partners
- To build and maintain positive relationships with young people
- Plan deliver and review programmes that support the development of young people accessing the outreach service and encourage them to engage with other provision across the Borough.
- Support the wider early help through targeted supportive work as required
- Role model behaviour to young people and families displaying clear personal and professional boundaries
Essential Experience Required
- Experience of working with young people and families from diverse cultures and backgrounds is essential.
Essential Qualification Required
- Level 2/3 qualification in youth and community work or willingness to achieve this within 12 months is essential.
Additional information to note
- Working hours: 20 hours per week. This role is from 2.30pm-6pm flexibly and the project / staffing is arranged flexibly
- The role requires a DBS check.
