Description
The Fine Arts Association seeks a qualified passionate and creative artist to join our talented Visual Arts Faculty team.
Description:
Part-Time textiles (crochet and/or sewing) teaching position ideal for those who are looking for a chance to share their artistic skills without an extensive weekly time commitment. Hours will not exceed 5 hours per week initially though there is much room for growth. Teaching will usually occur in the evening after 3:45 PM but additional daytime hours are also a possibility if desired.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate engaging age-appropriate crochet and/or sewing experiences that meet the demands and interests of FAA customers.
- Acknowledge students as individuals and communicate with them and/or their caregivers effectively on their unique learning paths and goals in the visual arts.
Potential Additional Opportunities:
- Offsite instruction at neighboring community locations (assisted living facilities libraries or schools)
- Private lessons as needed
- Camps as needed
- There is an opportunity to expand the number of hours by teaching other subjects in the Visual Art Dept.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of a variety of sewing and/or crochet applications to fit a range of needs and ages such as:
1) Crochet for kids (ages 8-11)
2) Crochet for teens (ages 12-15)
3) Crochet for adults
4) Sewing for kids (ages 8-11)
5) Sewing for teens (ages 12-15)
6) Sewing for adults
- Note- while sewing and crochet are our current offerings those who offer different textiles teaching skills arealso encouraged to apply.
- Hold or be working toward a degree in a Visual Art Field and/or Visual Art Education
-OR-
- Have a considerable amount of experience in the Visual Art Field and/or Visual Art Education
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Portfolio or Examples of artwork they have created
Preferred Qualifications:
An ideal candidate would have teaching experience with students of diverse backgrounds and ability levels.
