Interim Auditor-Controller County of Contra Costa California
Martinez CA Annual Salary: $290910*
*This salary includes a 5% COLA that takes effect July 1 2025
The County of Contra Costa is seeking a visionary Interim Auditor-Controller to lead the Office of the Auditor-Controller ensuring fiscal accountability transparency and excellence in financial reporting and auditing. As the Countys Chief Accounting Officer the Auditor-Controller oversees a broad array of statutory and policy-driven responsibilities that support sound financial governance for the County including managing property tax allocations payroll internal audit systems support accounts payable and special accounting. This executive-level leader will ensure fiscal stewardship over a $7 billion budget and serve as a key advisor to the Board of Supervisors County Administrator internal departments and regional partners. The ideal candidate for this role will bring strong expertise in public accounting and auditing as well as an innovative mindset strong leadership and culture cultivation and the ability to lead through change. The successful candidate will be appointed by the County Board of Supervisors to serve the remainder of the current term ending on January 4th 2027. While not a requirement for the role the County would prefer to appoint a candidate open to running for the Auditor-Controller seat in the 2026 election.
