Deputy Childrens Home Manager

Our client is opening a brand-new childrens residential service and is looking for an experienced compassionate and motivated Deputy Manager to help lead the team from the very start.

This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in shaping a nurturing therapeutic environment for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). Set in a warm small-scale home the service is focused on high-quality care consistency and real connection not numbers or targets.

The ideal candidate will bring senior experience from a childrens residential care setting be confident in leading a team and hold a Level 3 Diploma (or above) in Residential Childcare. Most importantly theyll be someone who genuinely cares about making a difference in the lives of young people.

As Deputy Childrens Home Manager youll support the Registered Manager in the daily running of the home with a clear focus on quality care and emotional wellbeing. Youll be a role model for the team and an advocate for the children.

What Were Looking For:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) Level 5 is a plus
  • Previous experience in a senior role within a childrens residential care setting
  • Strong understanding of emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
  • Confident working with older children and managing complex needs
  • Excellent communication problem-solving and team leadership skills
  • A calm consistent and caring approach

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the setup and development of a new residential service
  • Leading mentoring and supporting care staff to deliver exceptional outcomes
  • Ensuring the home meets all safeguarding and regulatory standards (Ofsted)
  • Building trusted relationships with children families and professionals
  • Taking the lead in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • Assisting with care planning risk assessments rota management and audits
