Your day to day:

Perform routine repetitive laboratory assignments in accordance with established and approved procedures.
In addition perform the following:

1. Set up and operate testing and analysis instruments in the laboratory.
2. Perform minor repairs on instruments and associated equipment.
3. Ensure that all preventative maintenance programs are followed.4. Assist Chemists as directed.5. Perform detailed setups on complex analytical instruments.
6. Must have thorough knowledge of instruments operated.
7. Recommend new or improved procedures uses and techniques on instruments and assist in developing them.
8. Prepare and standardize solutions routinely used in analytical procedures.
9. Prepare and verify control standards to be used in the procedures.
10. Train and assist lower classified laboratory personnel in techniques and responsibilities.
11. Other tasks and duties as assigned.

SCOPE PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
1. Provide communication for continuity of operations from shift to shift and process to process.
2. Frequent contacts with higher classified laboratory personnel to receive guidance work assignments and transfer information.3. Frequent contacts with operating personnel in other departments to obtain and provide information.4. Frequent contact with laboratory chemists and other department engineers pertaining to special projects.
5. Occasional contact with customer auditors and regulatory auditors.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Fundamental knowledge of laboratory operations (For example non-contamination housekeeping safety etc.)
Strong communication skills in the English language (written & oral) ability to deliver message results orientation indicated by efficiency accuracy and time quickly and adapt easily to changing technology and circumstances.

DIRECTION RECEIVED:
Receive direct instruction and follow approved procedures. Minimum directions received proceeds on own initiative based on established priorities. Written and/or oral instructions from laboratory management and professionals.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS:
Assist and instruct lower classified laboratory personnel in the use of instruments procedures and analytical techniques.

Who you are:
An associate degree or two years post high school technical training in chemistry or equivalent related experience.
Two years applicable Laboratory experience
