About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher to join our Autism Team as part of the Nottingham City SEND support services (ISS) from September 2025 or as soon as possible after. The role involves working within a well-established specialist team supporting settings to meet the needs of autistic children and young people and their families. The team works in collaboration with the wider SEND support service and other Local authority provision such as health and social care. The Autism team is comprised of specialist teachers and transition support workers.

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and experienced who can work in partnership with schools settings and families to promote the achievement inclusion and independence of autistic children and young people across Nottingham.

The successful candidate should have up to date knowledge of autism and all areas of SEND as well an understanding of evidence-based interventions to improve curriculum access and inclusion for autistic children and young people. Experience of working directly with schools to foster a whole school approach to inclusion and improving educational outcomes is essential. Knowledge and experience of Autism Education Trust (AET) framework and education programmes is desirable as is an additional qualification in the field of SEND.

This fixed-term post is available from September 2025- August 2026 but there is a possibility that this may be extended. A secondment would be considered for this role. The position is a term-time only role in accordance with teachers terms and conditions.
