This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team as a Senior Marine Cargo Underwriter!
Core Responsibilities:
- To assist in the acceleration and expansion of the London Market Cargo account in line with company plans whilst maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit and delivery of Everest internal plans.
- To offer lead market underwriting service to our partner brokers to allow Everest to compete with the market leaders allowing us to meet our plans and achieve scale.
- To assist in the preparation of the business plan statistics and documentation as required.
- To monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting regulation and compliance.
- To represent Everest Insurance (Ireland) DAC and Syndicate 2786 at meetings in the Everest office and during visits to brokers and other customers as required.
- To refer risks as appropriate that exceed prescribed underwriting authority.
- To monitor and manage static aggregations inline with Exposure Management strategy
- To assist in developing a marketing plan with the Underwriting team whilst maintaining and expanding existing broker relationships and developing new relationships where this is consistent with the objectives set in the Business Plan.
- To liaise with the Claims Manager on claims related issues and participate in account and portfolio reviews.
- To contribute to the regular analysis and review of underwriting practices and procedures.
- To participate in the quarterly underwriting peer review process.
- To assist in the improvement of the Companys management information systems rating models underwriting manuals service standards marketing materials website and risk management and claims functions.
- To assist with the completion and review of strategic underwriting guidelines & pricing models.
- In conjunction with the Head of Marine UK/Ire formulate and execute underwriting strategy in the London marketplace.
- Be responsible for Distribution Business and Product Development/Expansion within these areas.
Knowledge Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge and experience of underwriting Marine Cargo products
- Good understanding of underwriting in the UK and European insurance marketplaces
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
- Detailed understanding of general insurance principles.
- Strategic skills determines opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends. Comprehends the big picture
- Judgment / decision making skills ability to use logic rationality and objectivity in decision making
- Risk taking ability to take calculated risks with favorable outcomes. Excellent negotiation skills
- Compliance ability to ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls
- Excellent market and product knowledge maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products

- Leadership skills ability to provide clear vision and strategy. Align empower and influence others through ideas encouragement and insight.
