JOB DUTIES:
- Create implement and manage an agency-wide safety program.
- Perform safety-related trainings.
- Create or research and purchase safety tools such as developing injury dashboards for leadership and AEDs for Department use.
- Manage new-hire safety specialists.
- Perform observations of operations and facilitate correction of safety violations.
- Facilitate safety meetings.
- Monitor safety incident trends and implement corrective actions or revise policies to reduce frequency.
- Investigate and report all safety incidents.
- Prepare quarterly accident reports for distribution to leadership and work with the technology team to develop safety dashboards.
- Create a positive safety culture.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in industrial engineering and broad experience in safety investigation and training or equivalent education and experience. Certification in various safety courses may be required. Equivalent experience or coursework/training may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using Workday to track training requirements.
- Experience in employee supervision and training.
- Experience with creating dashboards to identify trends in accidents.
Other: Transcripts may be submitted upon application. Must have a valid drivers license. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam and at a randomly announced time pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Corrections Training Program.
