Job Description:

Electrical Engineering Manager

Hybrid working

Permanent

75000 - 85000 per annum

Your new role

The Electrical Engineering Manager will lead the electrical engineering team ensuring the design development and implementation of advanced electrical systems and components. This role demands strong technical expertise in Rolling Stock systems as well as strong leadership and project management capabilities. The Electrical Engineering Manager will be responsible for building an effective team supporting the development of team members to succeed in their roles as well as strong collaboration with cross-functional teams. Provide bid support for new rolling stock projects including requirements evaluation pre-concept design development technical document production budget forecasting etc.

  • Manage team of electrical engineering support within the Technical Services team to deliver technical solutions to complex engineering problems

  • Oversee design development and implementation of electrical based technical changes to rolling stock components and systems to improve safety and reliability

  • Provide technical expertise in relation to electrical systems ensuring conformance to relevant standards and best practice

  • Support the delivery of the heavy maintenance and overhaul capability for all UK fleets

  • Ensure robust and effective process and procedures are in place for all work activities within the Electrical Engineering function

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using latest advancements in electrical engineering technology and industry best practice to enhance system performance and efficiency

  • Provide technical commercial and managerial leadership for the Electrical Engineering team. Ensure individual mentoring coaching support and development to succeed in their roles

  • Develop detailed project plans allocate resources and monitor progress to achieve project milestones

  • Ensure the development of competencies skills and knowledge of the Electrical Engineering staff in alignment with Group HR strategy guidelines and policies

  • Support learning and development within the Electrical Engineering team including the development of new staff and Graduate Engineers

  • Responsible for ensuring adequate levels of H&S and environmental issues are maintained across departmental activities and compliant with company policy and Health & Safety at Work Act requirements

About you

  • HNC/HND in electrical engineering or relevant (5 yeas) experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical design principles Electrical rolling stock components power distribution systems control systems and industry standards.

  • Proven experience in managing complex projects including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proven experience of rolling stock heavy maintenance programmes and associated engineering activities required for these.

  • Hands on engineering experience and ability to develop deliver and lead fleet improvement strategies.

  • Ability to work flexibly and travel extensively and effectively within the UK.

  • User of Microsoft Project and able to build and maintain cost models

  • Extensive previous experience of planning in an engineering/maintenance environment

  • Understanding of Business Systems and ERP solutions such as SAP
