Westinghouse is looking for a Fire Program Manager. This position will have direct responsibility and supervision of day-to-day operations and management of the onsite Fire Safety Program which includes but is not limited to overseeing Fire Technicians on call - as needed firewatch personnel and the Transient Combustible Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent BHI as a member of the Plant/Site Management Team.
- Ensure sufficient qualified personnel are available to execute the scope of work whether scheduled or emergent.
- Maintain a roster of available personnel to address emergent needs and subsequent scheduling and notification of firewatch personnel as required.
- Conscientious implementation and observed work force compliance with Westinghouse and site safety programs.
- Continual communication of safety expectations to all members of the team along with the coaching and counseling needed to produce exceptional results. Accepts personal responsibility and accountability for the results obtained.
- Ensure compliance with all Fire prevention programs and initiate corrective actions.
- Primary interface with station management Operations and Work Management (Planning Scheduling Work Control etc.) teams.
- Notification to the Operations Shift Manager in the event any of the following items occur or are discovered:
- Discovery of or reported to fire smoke or burning odors.
- A firewatch post or rove is not performed.
- Unsafe fire prevention practices.
- Discovery of inoperable fire protection equipment or features.
- Conditions requiring compensatory measures
- Missed surveillance or PM.
- Participate in the development and implementation of solutions to productivity issues.
- Accountability for all site goals and objectives including safety and ALARA.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through prompt resolution of conflicts and concerns.
- Maintain a current listing of all personnel assigned to the site.
- Identification of first time evolutions and significant work activities. Command and control of first time evolutions.
- Ensure the timely and correct utilization of the client and Westinghouse Corrective Action Programs.
- Ensure all employee concerns are properly addressed.
- Ensure personnel participation in detailed pre-job briefings daily and attend shift turnovers as required.
- Assure that Task Specific Job Hazard Assessments are performed and communicated.
- Ensure that the work meets the requirements of the work packages work orders and good work practice standards
- Review and complete work packages in accordance with site procedures.
Qualifications / Education / Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications
- Must be able to read understand and comply with all Millstone site and Westinghousepolicies and procedures.
- May be required to operate specialized equipment per procedures & training.
- Must be able and willing to access the Radiological Controlled Areas within the plant. This includes understanding and practicing the proper protocol for entering and exiting these areas.
- Must know the appropriate phone numbers to call for notification purposes in case of issues preventing completion of assigned work duties (i.e. areas not accessible personnel sickness etc.)
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Previous nuclear experience preferred.
