We have a current opportunity for a Sr Principal Spacecraft Systems Engineer / Mission Architect HYBRID-Chantilly VA office.This role leverages your extensive mission and advanced systems design manufacturing and operations experience for end-to-end spacecraft systems and payloads. Youll serve as senior technical leader for new mission and systems concepts driving growth and guiding technology advancements to attract and win major new business.
Responsibilities
Serves as senior technical leader to the business to develop mission concepts for spacecraft and mission development
Leverage mission design tools to support end-to-end systems engineering program plans schedules and costing
Provide thought leadership within Redwire with our partners and across the industry
Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description system planning and design and acquisition logistics
Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods
Translates high level customer objectives business cases architectures and spacecraft development strategies into system requirement specifications and work across engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements
Establishes and coordinates development of standards practices and procedures as related to the overall system development.
Designs interfaces and brings system elements together so they work as a whole meeting customer requirements while being competitive
Efficiently develop cost and schedule competitive technical solutions drawing on internal and partner expertise
Develop concepts in schedule budget and performance constrained environment
Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures
Use MBSE tools and techniques to rapidly develop detailed mission concepts to bid for new business
Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements
Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts
Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures
Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements
Technical management of program elements
Plan and conduct of technical reviews and technical baseline
Write status and technical performance reviews and reports
Mentor coach train guide direct and advise junior staff
Must be able to recognize and mitigate technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule
The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team
Ideal Experience
Desired Skills
M.S. in Aerospace Engineering Systems Engineering or other space-related discipline.
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 including SharePoint and Teams. Microsoft Project experience a plus.

Redwiredetermines pay for positions using local national and industry-specific survey data for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicants level of experience education and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally we consider the external market rate the amount we have budgeted internally and internal equity within the company for the same position.An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will be considered for higher pay.
