Bringing Home the Dough
The Sr. Director of Procurement manages all Flour Commodities (including Organic) supplier relationships including contract negotiations and materials movements used in the baking process for all plants within the network while being accountable for managing significant annual spend and for managing approximately 200 materials and 25 suppliers. Hedging of agricultural commodities through market exchanges is critical to this role. The Sr. Director of Procurement sets strategic sourcing strategies for the Flour (Including Organic) Category that delivers consistent supplies of materials drives productivity projects that have a financial impact to the companys bottom line supports growth efforts related to the integration new plants new product lines or additional lines at our plants while hiring training and developing our team talent.
Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities
- Provide thought leadership to the Commodity Leadership Team for the overarching Commodity Strategy development
- Create Flour (Including Organic) Category Strategies to address growth productivity risk management and continuous improvement and development
- Establish performance goals and metrics Flour (including Organic).
- Drive and develop Productivity initiatives that improve our total cost of ownership and overall efficiencies through RFPs alternate supplier development specification andor formula optimization supplier relationship management and negotiation. Strive for 1.5-2X benefit of team G&A Expense or 1-2% improvement per year
- Establish key cost assumptions for the annual planning cycle that address raw material feed stock inflation/deflation and productivity offsets impacting the respective materials for financial planning purposes
- Work with plant inventory fulfillment teams to ensure that they can order receive and pay for there respectively managed raw materials on a timely and accurate basis
- Negotiate supplier contracts: price volume service payment terms with our respective risk management terms and conditions to ensure raw material quality and food safety
- Manage the respective suppliers on issues related to maintaining an uninterrupted supply of raw materials to bakery locations including the establishment of business continuity plans
- Gather agricultural commodity andor raw material feed stock information from various sources and assess its impact on the business
- Ensure that business processes being used support accurate data input into SAP at all levels of the organization
- Participate as a member of the Flowers Foods Commodity Risk Subcommittee Flowers Foods SLT DASHBOARD Reviews to discuss agricultural and raw material feedstock market information current coverage positions and financial plan impacts
- Qualify new vendors to supply existing materials. Also evaluate the use of new Flour Commodities
- Work on special projects for VP Procurement or others on the Procurement Leadership Team
- Build and maintain a positive good image of Flowers Foods through personal involvement in the community and through business related activities
- Position supports the ERP DIGITAL SAP integration efforts related to Commodities.

Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years procurement experience
- 5 years of wheat and flour hedging/procurement

- Bachelors degree or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
We offer a competitive salary and an excellent total rewards package. Salary range - $165000 - $175000.
