Under minimal direction from the Manager of Construction Services (MCS) the Construction Manager (CM) is responsible for the daily management and administration of construction projects ensuring consistency with department strategy commitments and goals. The CM leads and manages each project including construction administration and closeout maintaining day to day project level leadership responsibility throughout the project. The CM will administer projects objectives and oversee quality control while meeting strict deadlines and managing the construction budget.

Working knowledge of Public Works laws design and construction ordinances and other regulations applicable to building construction maintenance and repair including building codes for the State of California fire codes ADA regulations industry standards and regulations. Excellent administrative communication organizational interpersonal multi-tasking detailed documentation record keeping and information management skills are mandatory. Collaboration and teamwork approach problem solving and a sense of urgency attention to detail effective time management and follow-through to resolution of open items is mandatory.
Ability to represent the department in a professional manner to determine campus customers needs is required. Ability to communicate effectively and work within an ethnically diverse campus environment. Knowledge of CPM scheduling pull planning and web-based project management applications is preferred. Knowledge of construction estimating is preferred. Working knowledge of personal productivity tools Microsoft Office Microsoft Project Scheduling Bluebeam are mandatory. Plan Grid AutoCAD Revit Sketch-Up and BIM is preferred. Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.
Bachelors degree in engineering architecture construction management or related field and seven years of progressively responsible full time work experience in a related field required.
Demonstrated prior experience managing or administering projects preferred.
Experience with Design/Bid/Build Design/Build and construction delivery methods is preferred.

CSU MPP Compensation Summary Range: The MPP Comp Summary Range for this position is $9606 - $14409 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.
This is a management level position with an attractive benefits package which includes a vacation accrual rate of 16 hours per month and excellent choice of medical dental and vision insurance long term disability coverage life insurance educational fee waiver and retirement benefits.
