Purpose:
Compensation: Role starts at $82k. Negotiable depending on experience.
Weekly Production Bonus and Yearly Profit-Sharing Bonus.

The Automation Engineer is responsible for collaborating with Maintenance and Production teams to maximize safety and optimize Nucor Rebar Fabrication processes.
Basic Job Functions:
- Training team members across locations to support consistent performance and knowledge sharing.
- Using engineering principles algorithms and techniques to trouble shoot and improve both the process and equipment.
- Developing and implementing improvement plans involving both hardware and software systems.
- Providing support outside of normal business hours as needed including flexible scheduling for unscheduled and scheduled overtime weekends and holidays.
- Assisting with regional maintenance initiatives and supporting cross-site collaboration.
- Adapting to evolving responsibilities as assigned by the area Supervisor/Manager in response to operational needs.
- Traveling regularly to other regional NRF locations to identify improvement opportunities resolve issues and share best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Process Electrical Automation Engineering or related field OR
- 2 years of industrial maintenance and automation experience
Preferences:
- aSa software experience
- 2 - 3 years of experience in a reinforcing steel fabrication environment
Physical Demands:
- Some heavy lifting may be necessary
- Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold
Special Demands:
- Due to the operating conditions of the position this is a safety sensitive position
- Frequent travel to regional branches
