Job Description

Summary

Assembles repairs and fabricates metal parts by operating mechanical equipment. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units. Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product. Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machine for the process. Provides training to lower-level machinists. Sets-up and operates both manual and CNC equipment for the efficient production of quality components. Responsible for the production of high-tolerance precision parts.

What Youll do as a CNC Machinist III

  • Interpret technical prints.
  • Provide part quotation from technical drawings which include estimated program set up and cycle labor plus material size and machined used.
  • Must have knowledge of CNC machine G-Code and troubleshooting skills to identify and communicate program improvements to programmers.
  • Programs sets-up operates manual and CNC mills lathes and grinders and adjust machining equipment for production efficiency without supervision. Able to read and utilize blueprints.
  • Monitors quality of parts produced to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Abides by all Company safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Must use personal protective equipment if required.
  • Aware of and conforms to company ISO goals and objectives and supports company ISO requirements.
  • Aware of and actively participates in companys Lean philosophy of continuous improvement.
  • Ensures measuring devices used to check product quality are calibrated prior to use.
  • Maintains in-process product identification.
  • Follows procedure for handling nonconforming parts

The Experience Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • Minimum 10 years machining experience with Vocational Degree (Machine/Tool or related field) OR minimum 15 years of machining experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 7 years machine operation
  • Minimum 5 years set up
  • Experience in manual and CNC machining
  • Demonstrated expertise in reading and interpreting technical drawings

Other:

  • Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function
  • Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job
  • Ability to work with Engineers to make recommendations
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications including Word Excel
