Location: Burnham ME
Reports To: Manufacturing Manager

ABOUT THE POSITION: We are searching for a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift/Tally Operator to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for operating a Forklift to load unload and move materials within the mill or storage area. This role ensures the efficient and safe handling of goods while maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting overall Sawmill/Manufacturing operations. This role also ensures accurate tagging of packs tallying each pack correctly on the production sheet all in a timely well-organized manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Moving completed packs from the Green Chain and the Auto Stacker outfeed stations.
- Strap each pack and apply the correct tag for accurate inventory and production.
- Move correctly tagged and tallied green pack to the outfeed roll to be sent outside to the kilns.
- Bring dry wood into the mill when needed and place it in storage making sure the correct grade and length are kept together.
- Move dry packs to the molders when necessary.
- Realign and readjust packs that are not meeting correct specifications.
- Record correct pack to molders when necessary.
- Record correct pack information on paper.
- Work in the Green Chain area when there is no forklift work to be done.
- Assist the Sawmill Supervisor coordinate Green Chain workflow and
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must have experience operating a forklift
- Must have good memory have basic math skills and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a team player.
SKILLS/PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong attention to safety detail and operational efficiency.
- Must be well organized.
- Must have effective communication skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts overtime and weekends as needed.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- OSHA Forklift Certification
- Knowledge of kiln control systems

- Physical ability to work in indoor and outdoor conditions lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to climb onto and off the forklift frequently.
