Job Description

Behavioral Crisis Response Program Supervisor

at Canopy Roots

This position is designed to supervise and provide support to Crisis Responders and Lead Crisis Responders for the Minneapolis Behavioral Crisis Response Program (BCR). The goal of BCR is to de-escalate non-violent crisis situations by compassionately responding to the unique needs of community members in need. Our culturally diverse crisis responders are certified mental health practitioners and we require extensive and ongoing training in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.

Job Details

Location: While there is some flexibility in this position 80% or more is required in-person at the Canopy Roots office base located in NE Minneapolis.

Hiring Salary: Starts at $80000 commensurate with qualification and experience

Hours/Day: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm Wednesdays - Saturdays; A typical work week is 40 hours though occasional work outside of typical hours may be required. This role requires the program supervisor to be on-call for consultation outside of work hours in rotation with the Program Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • Hold regular one - hour monthly supervision meetings with up to 18 crisis responders
  • Facilitate twice weekly Collective meetings to consult on calls and have group discussion
  • Provide training for Crisis Responders and Lead Crisis Responders
  • Ensure program compliance with data collection policy for outcome measures
  • Collaborate with Program Manager and Human Resources in hiring and interviewing personnel
  • Manage responder schedules
  • Provide a minimum of 20 hours a month of in-field supervision of crisis responders
  • Shadow and evaluate Responders in the community setting
  • Collaborate with trainer and program manager to facilitate Critical Incident Debriefing
  • Guide new staff through the onboarding process
  • Track program needs and provide suggestions and feedback for policy change
  • Implement and communicate with team about policy and procedure changes
  • Collaborate with Crisis Responder Leads about team needs and policy suggestions
  • Secure coverage for open shifts and holidays and support Crisis Responder staff with their scheduling needs
  • Signing off on emergency or transport holds
  • Communicate with office support staff about the need for program supplies and materials
  • Pass on relevant information about outcomes staff satisfaction to Program Manager
  • Hold on-call duties during evening hours on off days each week
  • Other duties as determined by your direct supervisor

A Successful Program Supervisor:

  • Maintains positive and collaborative relationships with Crisis Responder staff
  • Notices program needs without prompting and passes information about these needs to the Program Manager as they arise
  • Sets a consistent and exemplary example of Canopys values in action through their professional behavior and the guidance/supervision provided to their supervisees
  • Scores a 36 or below on the Roots Program Supervisor Staff Survey
  • Has five or less instances of unstaffed shifts per year

Requirements

  • Must be licensed as a mental health professional in the state of Minnesota (e.g. LP LICSW LPCC LMFT).
  • Must hold a masters degree in behavioral sciences or a related field and have completed or in the process of completing 4000 hours of post-masters supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services aimed at treating mental health concerns.
  • Must be passionate and knowledgeable about the provision of culturally responsive community-based services equitable healthcare access and social and economic challenge of the clients that they serve.
  • Experience working with diverse clientele.
  • Experience leading teams and hiring personnel.
