Field Service Technician (Hospital Bed Repair)

Description
The Field Service Technician (Hospital Bed Repair) supports safe reliable patient care by inspecting troubleshooting repairing and performing preventative maintenance on all makes and models of hospital beds stretchers and related patient-handling equipment across the facility. This role works closely with Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMETs) to minimize equipment downtime and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manufacturer specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on hospital beds stretchers birthing beds and exam tables in accordance with the manufacturers recommended procedures and Joint Commission (TJC) / CMS standards.
Diagnose mechanical electrical and hydraulic issues; replace faulty parts actuators control boards brake mechanisms and support surfaces to restore equipment to OEM performance.
Document work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and maintain accurate service records that meet NFPA 99 TJC and hospital policy requirements.
Respond promptly to service calls; communicate repair status estimated completion times and safe-use instructions.
Maintain adequate stock of high-use spare parts; coordinate warranty returns and vendor repairs when required.
Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and assist BMETs with patient-care device repairs during high-volume periods.
Participate in OEM training hospital safety courses and ongoing professional development; share best practices with peers.
Travel
Ability to travel between satellite clinics as needed.
Travel up to 50% within a 50-100 mile radius
Work Schedule
Full-time 40 hours/week
MondayFriday 7 AM3:30 PM (flexible based on hospital needs).
Qualifications
2 years of hands-on experience repairing hospital beds and stretchers OR 4 years in a mechanical/electromechanical repair trade (e.g. automotive industrial maintenance).
Demonstrated proficiency using multimeters hand tools torque wrenches and diagnostic software.
Familiarity with OEM service manuals (e.g. Stryker Hill-Rom/Baxter Midmark Linet) and regulatory standards (TJC NFPA IEC 60601).
Ability to read schematics and interpret technical bulletins.
Valid drivers license and ability to travel between satellite clinics as needed.
Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology Electronics or related field preferred.
Completion of an accredited BMET program or U.S. military biomedical equipment training preferred.
Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)** credential preferred.
OEM factory training certificates for Stryker or Hill-Rom beds preferred.
Experience with asset management/CMMS platforms (e.g. TMS EQ2 HEMS Four Rivers) preferred.
Knowledge of basic networking and serial communication protocols used in smart beds preferred.
Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States without an employer sponsored visa.
Ability to pass background screening and driver record check.
Salary Range
$35.00 - $40.00 per hour
$72800.00 - $83212.80 annualized
